Sources
Only primary documents: IRS revenue procedures, notices, forms and instructions, IRS pages, and the text of the Internal Revenue Code as amended (Public Law 119-21 for 2025 onward). News articles, blogs and other calculators are never a source of a figure. Each page names its documents; the full list is on the method page.
No figure typed by hand
Amounts live in one parameter file and pages read them from it, so a corrected amount changes on every page at once. A figure we could not confirm in an official document is not published.
Reviews
Pages are reviewed when the IRS publishes the next year's inflation adjustments (usually October or November), when a new law or a revised form changes a rule, and at least once a year. Last full review: October 11, 2026.
Corrections
A reported error is checked against the document within a week; if confirmed, the fix is published with its date. Write through the contact page.
Independence
No preparer, software company or lender pays for a mention, and no page recommends one.
Estimate only: these figures apply the amounts the IRS publishes to the numbers you enter. They are not tax advice, and the return the IRS processes is the one that counts.
